Description
Darkmilk chocolate with an increased cocoa content of 50% with the addition of aromatic vanilla from Uganda.
Uganda Semuliki cocoa is the Forestero variety, known locally as Koko. A balanced composition in milk chocolate with a higher cocoa content and the addition of fine vanilla from Uganda.
Located in Bundibugyo in western Uganda, Semuliki Forest cocoa is grown by more than 3 400 small-scale organic farmers in the region, 52% of whom are women. Latitude Trade Co. (LTC), the company that processes and exports this cocoa, operates an extensive network of rural collection points where it buys high-quality wet cocoa, paying at least 20% more to producers than other buyers in Uganda. Latitude also runs a café in Uganda’s capital Kampala and its own chocolate factory from bean to bar where it produces artisan chocolates.
